- Today the students were given time to study for their quest tomorrow. They are to know the key terms but any key terms from the unit so far may be on the quest.

- Today the students looked at the 4 types of industry and continued working on their assignment.

- Today the students were given the lesson to work on their Ideal City assignment.

- today students continued to work on population growth activities. They were also given time to work on their Ideal City assignment and to study for their upcoming test.

- today the students continued to look at population growth and began to learn how to calculate natural increase rates for populations.

- today the students looked at the factors that lead to population growth and began to work on a population growth activity.

- Today the students finished off looking at mapping and did a case study of Quebec City. They were also given time to work on their Land Use assignment that is due on Monday.

- Today students looked at mapping and the differences between relative location and absolute location. For homework they are to complete the two map worksheets.

- Today the students looked at population patterns and land use. They were given a brief land use assignment to complete for Thursday.

- Today the students began their Geography course and looked at the differences between physical and human geography.

- Today students finished off History by looking at the final few years before WW1. They played the following game to simulate the life of a soldier in the Trenches.

Today we continue looking at the settlement of the west, specifically we started learning about the Métis and the Red River Rebellion.

Friday, October 14th, 2016

Ms Roy's class finished the notes on the First Nations and Inuit.
While Mr. Gray's class continued looking at the various groups of people who were living in the western part of Canada.

Thursday October 13th, 2016

- Today students began to look at the expansion of Canada to the West. They studied the various first nations tribes and peoples that were impacted by this expansion.

Mr Grays' Class: For homework they are to write a paragraph on the following: Name 3 ways that westward expansion by Canada would impact the First Nations.

Students then read page 44 and answered the questions found on that page.

For homework: Read and take notes on pages 32-34, 37, 39, and 40-43
You should take notes on the bolded words and you should have at least 1-2 notes on the key points of each paragraph/section.

Today students continued to work on their Historical Diary Entry. The assignment is due Monday and should be thoroughly checked over before submission.

Today students began to look at the people in BNA pre-confederation which includes the First Nations,

Mr. Gray's class was also given their first assignment, a historical Diary Entry. Ms Roy's class will receive the assignment and the rubric in class tomorrow (as we ran out of time today).

Assignment:
- After reading the “every day life” section, then, imagining you are one of those people, write a diary entry examining what it was like to be them and what their experience of Canada was like.
Your assignment should be:
- 2 to 3 pages double spaced
- A maximum of 3 diary entries
- Size 12 Times New Roman font
- Should be about one of the following; a PEI Farmer, First Nations, Great Migration, or Underground Railroad.
- This will be due on Monday September 19th.

Today we began with an introduction to History Unit 1: Confederation.
We also set up an account on Turnitin for Social Studies 8. If you were unable to do this because of computer issues, please try to do this at home or come see me to help you set up your account.

For homework: Read and take notes on pages 4-12. This includes key terms(bolded) and important information found within the text.
Also answer questions 1 and 2 found on page 12. You do not need to do research for question 2, do it based on the information you've read and what you already know.
